Hey Little Magpie - July 2016 Blogpost

My layouts are up today over on the Hey Little Magpie Blog (here).  This month I used the lovely collection from Fancy Pants Design - Life is Beautiful.  The quality of these papers are lovely, each paper is textured and a good quality - i would rate them as a similar weight to American Craft Cardstock, so very substantial.

Hope over to the blog and see my 4 layouts I've managed to do this month, and better still why not purchase some of this lovely collection from the store. - here

Happy scrapping everyone

Let it be Merry & Bright by Pink Paislee

Hi everyone, yes I'm still here.  just a quick head up that my November blog post is now up on the Hey Little Magpie blog here.

I used the lovely christmas collection from Pink Paislee - Merry & Bright - which was just so lovely I didn't want to cut into it, but once I did it was really fab to us.

I got a selection of 12x12 paper, 6x6 pad, ephemera pack and sticker sheets.

This is one of my layouts which includes a mini book attached to the front.

Please hop over to the blog, and leave a comment I would love to know what you think about my designs.

Thanks for stopping by.

Using up Scraps - Pink Paislee - Solstice

I really loved this collection that I choose for my September pages for the Hey Little Magpie (HLM) CT blog, and decided to put a layout together, using the scraps from the 6x6 pad and embellishments left over from the ephemera pack.

Staying with my theme for the month of using die cuts / punches ...

I gathered my scraps and triangle punch

Punched the shapes

Then I started to paper-piece the triangles the the card stock, trying my best not to have two colours next to each over.

Then using sheets that I had cut to use in a previous layouts, I layered a few sheets to add some depth to the layout.

Backed the photos with some scraps of paper.

I inked the edges of the layers - to help it life the papers from the patterned background.

I wanted to use these stamps from Studio L2E  and I first stamped onto pink paper, with black ink.

then changed my mind and stamped it onto some blue instead and added the date.

When it came to adding the title, I realised that I didn't have the necessary letters from the alphabet sheet and was missing a "N" - so I used "W" instead ...

cutting the right hand side off …

and it perfect … well not perfect but it works for me.

I added some enemel dots, wood veneer, and bits from the ephemera pack, and puffy stickers.  I did end up covering a large area of the background pattern but I'm OK with that.

And here is my finish layout,

Why not get your punches out and see if you can do a background using your scraps.

You can see my other layouts using this collection here on the HLM blog.

To 'Die' for - Pink Paislee - Solstice

Hi all, over on the HLM blog I mentioned that I had done a step-by-step  on how I put this layout together.

For this layout I used my cameo to cut out the pie chart design,

has I didn't want all the sections cut out - I deleted the section I didn't want and moved the shapes to make sure that when it cut it was over the paper.

I added 4 different 6x6 papers to the mat

and cut out

Then I printed 4 different 6x4 photographs, and using one of the shapes as a template, I hand-cut the photographs who that it would fit in the missing space - hope that makes sense.

When I laid all the photographs and patterned papers together, I drew a faint pencil around the edge, to mark the placement.

Using some distress ink, I inked all the edges of the pattered papers.

then I decided that the background cardstock was too plain, so I splattered the background with some mists.

If you look closely you can see my rough circle guidelines.

After sticking the papers and photographs down, it came to adding a title.  I love these alphabets that are with the collection, not only the colour but the fact that the glitter doesn't rub off when you are handling them.   Has the title was long I was running out of a few of the letters, and I was missing a 'H', so with my thinking cap on I decided to

Use a 'F' and "I' and make it work.

It not perfect, but when its in its page protector you can not tell, so all is good.

Keeping with the theme of a circle, I added circle elements to the centre of the layout, to ground everything and bring it all together, the 'summer vacation' is from the ephemera pack.

Over each of the patterned papers, I added a circle element

Which had to include some lovely HLM exclusive flare badges

I hope you like my process of putting this layout together, and come back in a few days to see another layout put together using this collection that didn't make it to the HLM blog.
