This month blog challenge from SJ Papercraft is to do a craft project regarding the Olympics, and this is my take on the challenge

Studio Calico July 2012 kit

Thanks for stopping by.

Still working with Studio Calico July kit, which I'm loving by the way, I completed these layouts.

'Oh Happy Day'

A photo taken on a crafting weekend away early this year.

stamps the 'exclusive' wood veneer tweets - love them.

And of course, use of my cameo.

Sudden Downpour

At the end of June we had a sudden downpour, which left roads flooded, according to the weather reports it was going to be 'light showers in part' but it was more like 1 months rain within 1 hr.

Love these cameo cut "rain clouds"

and my final layout for now.

2 Men & a dog

I managed to do a layout using just the Solihull July Class kit (Sweet Day by Echo Park Papers) and a bit of misting. The dog was one that was playing on the beach, and James always take the opportunity to stop and play whenever one happens to be nearby.

Impromptu visit

OMG - after a couple of phone calls and several textes, I'm spending this weekend with my girlies in Preston.

There will be plenty of laughs and the odd bottle of wine or two - love spending time in Preston and catching up with these girls xxx

Getting my Scrap on ...

I really need to scrap more of my photos that I've printed so this month I set too and decided to use the July 2012 Studio Calico kit and try and use up as must as I can before the next one arrives.

So at the July Solihull crop I started on a few, this one in particular caused us load of laughs trying to think of a title, well they where laughing, I just thought the title were silly and had nothing to do with the layout, so thank to Morag, who found one of Sir Cliff song title online, I choose this one.

Travellin' Light (Need to add some journalling to this one)

I got this pin badge from Sainsburys and cut the back off.

Photo with my friends - having a break after watching the torch relay.

stamped a wood veneer camera.

A double pages layout, about the kissing of the torches

I was not so keen on this kit at first, but now I love the mixture of colour and have been able to complete 6 layouts and still have loads left to use up.

Thanks for stopping by.

General Layouts

Just a few layouts that I've done and forgot to upload.

This is the class layout that Morag designed for the Solihull June Class, but I'd already had the papers that she used, so I just did a layout using some of my stash, being Echo Park - Awesome.

Another iphone photo of James and me, I used a sketch from Basic Grey, here

What about this lovely wood veneer 'tweet' by Studio Calico, apparently they were meant to be 'exclusive' to their kits, but I managed to get my hand on a packet, that was sent out by mistake by American Craft.

An iphone of James, after he had his yearly MRI Scan, I just wanted to document how well he did and the fact that he went back to school after it. This layout is completely different to how it started, I think the next time I will take photos at my first stage of design, and see how it differs by the time I get to the end.

And the final one for today, me making my TV appearance with Sir Cliff. Whilst watching the local news about the Olympic Torch coming to Birmingham, I noticed I was on the TV, you can clearly see me waving and hear me shouting 'Sir Cliff! Sir Cliff!' trying to get his attention so he would turn round, you would have thought I was his No. 1 fan - lol.

This layout is like this one by Shimelle, here, using a sketch as a basic and they adding your own style.

There I am ....

I used a Studio Calico mistable camera, really easy to change the colour with an ink pad.

Thats all for now, please come back soon.

What I Did this Weekend ...

Apologies for a photo heavy post (and I delete some as well !!!)

A spent a lovely afternoon on Saturday watching my friends daughter in a Synchronised Swimming competition, in Walsall, she swims for the City of Birmingham team and what a great event it was.

Jasmine with her team

starting position

in the water

City of Birmingham - older team

At the end of the day, was the awards ceremony, where all the team lined up around the pool.

This is the City of Birmingham Team

and I was so pleased that Jasmine and her team ended up with 2, which must make all the hard work and training worthwhile.

I'm hoping to be able to cheer her on again.

Then on Sunday I headed over to Harborne, to see there village carnival, its called Harborne Village when really its just an area in Birmingham, but they shut the whole town down, the main event is on the main high street,as you can see it was very crowded so didn't stay long, had a walk down the high street and then came back home.

Surprisingly, as you can see from the photo we had lovely blue skies.

Rights that's my weekend, but please pop back later in the week and I will share some layouts.

Thanks for stopping by ...

The Olympic Torch Came to Birmingham

I set off to see it, not sure if I would, but I knew if I didn't try I would be mad with myself. So off I went on the bus and met a friend who was with her friend who were going, so I joined them and what a laugh we had, the atmosphere was just amazing I really didn't expect it.

So we made our way to the circket ground, because this was where Sir Cliff Richards was going to get the torch and take it into the concert in the park, well that was what we were told.

So has the crowds gathered,

we were entertained by this lady, what a character and it help pass the time.

we were then told that Sir Cliff was not coming to the gates where we were standing, but stopping before it and passing the torch to a girl - so I left my good spot and went future down, I really wanted to make the best of this opportunity to get some decent photos and I'm so glad I did.

This was the girl who did the final leg, she was very emotional, but she posed for the camera and was beaming from ear to ear the all time. How proud her parent must have been. I wish I got to this point earlier because I would have loved to have had my photo taken with the torch.

When these passed by we knew the torch would be here

Then it arrived with Sir Cliff, hope this doesn't sound bad, but he looks really well for his age and he was definiately a crowd pleaser. He stood and posed for photos, I had a police woman standing in front of me so I was really pleased that I was able to get these.

The 'kissing of the torches" transferring the flame between the torches

And these are the friends I was with,

we had been given tickets to get into the concert, by the time the barriers had lifted, and we had walked to the entrance, the concert was down to the last act, so we ended up have a drink them going back into the park to listen to the last few songs by The Wanted. Got a few photos but we were at the back so not very good. But it was good just being there.

I so glad that I made the effort, I might not be able to see any of the Olympics games other than on the TV but at least I saw this.
