More Holiday Minibooks

I have definitely been on a roll producing mini books for others who are going on holiday.  I have just finish putting these together for my friends children, who are going to Florida for a few weeks.

Apologies for the quality of the photos has I took them on my phone.

I started the albums using Simply Stories - Urban Traveller, so the base pages have this collection, but fortunately I only used small strips and then I came across a new collection called ' All Aboard' by Papermania - great value as well as great quality.   I got mine from my local stationery shop and the 12 x 12 paper collection was only £7.95 - which is a bargain.  I mainly used the tags, die cuts, journalling cards, and it all co-ordinated nicely.

This is the collection I got.

They even had matching washi tape (like I need more - lol x)

And here are the finished books which I did at 8 inches by 6 inches..  I'd designed the Florida title myself and cut with my cameo.

I got an A3 plastic sheet that I cut down to use as the cover for the albums.  The sheet cost £3.00 - so using this size of album I can cover 3, with a strip left over.  I adhered the title and map to the back of the plastic cover, mainly to stop it be coming upstruck.

So these are a few of the pages.

I added several envelopes that I stamped so that they could include any memorabilia that they might pick up along the way.

Then using the tags and journalling spots from the collection I added several to the album.

Then to give it some added interest I made this card, that houses a tag ...

but also pulls out to either add a photograph or some journalling.

and another one that is more for journalling or smaller photos.

I also did a little plastic envelope with additional journalling cards, fancy paperclips and a multi-coloured pen.

I did 2 albums, one for a boy and one for a girl who are both teenagers.  They both loved them, and their mum said that they will be ideal because they don't have to be writing loads down, just jot notes - yah !! she 'get's it'.  It was good to know that they will use them and both went away saying what they can business cards etc to the envelopes when they go on their holidays.

I'm looking forward to seeing them completely or partially completed when they get back home.

Sarah's Card Retreat - March 2013 - Part 3 - layouts

The last post about Sarah's Card retreat.

I did this for the sketch challenge, I normally love sketches but I had a nightmare with this one, so much so that I just couldn't think straight, I started this several times, different photos, different papers etc, and just  didn't 'feel it'.  But on the Saturday morning I got this idea, then when I eventually did this one it was different from the sketch I had the main elements of the sketch, but I did change it around.  So in the end it wasn't a complete repelica of the sketch but it worked for me.

Take Note - Sketch Challenge

I stamped these frames onto patterned paper and cut out the middle and inserted some small photos.

Love you more

Sarah's Card Retreat - March 2013 - Part 2 - Class Layouts

Here are my class layouts, which were all designed  by the DT team and each one has given me something that I could use on my future layouts.

Photo Call - designed by Jen - using Pebbles collection.

Jen showed us how to put a layout together using a multi pocketed page protector

Loved this added stitched detail.

So with the left over I did a facing page

These are the two pages together

Crafty Buds - designed by Tracey using Simple Stories 'Sn@p' collection.

Mon beau fils Design by Claire - using Basic Grey collection.

We even made this bow out of some of the patterned paper

Claire had added her title in french so I decided to do the same.  I also added an extra photo

which means My handsome Son

My Son - Designed by Ifa - using My Minds Eye Collection

Loads of techniques on this one, including embossing on vellum, covering a wood veneer shape with paper

We even made our own buttons

James at 5teen - Designed by Helen - using Studio Calico papers

There used to be a time when I stitched on most of my layouts, and loved it so this was really enjoyable and very relaxing.

Mr Cool - Designed by Louise - using Notalagia collection.

I will be back with my layouts that I managed to complete over the weekend.

Sarah's Card Retreat - March 2013 - - part 1

Me and Julie made a quick trip up the M6 to warrington.

Of course we had to stop for a coffee or in my case a pot of tea.

Then we headed to Daresbury to a pub we found last year,

I love the library in the phone box outside the pub - what a great idea.

We had lunch which was yummy ! Streak and onion sandwich with homemade chips.

After we booked into the hotel we waited patiently for the crop room to open

On our tables we were greeted with a fab goody bag full of lovely stash as well as a chocolate bar

After a quick look through the goody bag it was on to the shop - well I did wait 10 minutes - lol x

The shop did not disappoint.

love boiled sweets to keep us all going throughout the weekend.

OMG - Washi tape

The hotel seems to be going thought some major changes so the standard / service / availability of staff etc wasn't as expected, but it did't stop the enjoyment of the retreat.

The main thing that seams strange was that we had a Carvery every day, now I love a roast but it would have been great to have another meal on one of day, and the desserts where onces they had gone, that was it.

This the lovely Helen on this Mike, which she really enjoyed, not sure whether it was the mike or the red wine, but she did a great job with the quiz.
