Shimelle's Return to the Collection 2014

Yes, I've done it again enrolled onto a scrapbooking workshop, this one was to find out how to use a complete paper collection something that I struggle to do.  I can use one or two of the papers then think 'what do I do with the rest', so I enrolled and it has been worth it.

So my paper collection I decided to use was Maggie Holmes Flea Market, which I got from TK Maxx for £8.00 - bargain.  This collection was just the papers, so I had none of the Flea Market range of embellishments, which I was OK with has I'm trying to tidy my craft room and have come across loads of embellishments that I wanted to use.

I decided to use some of the many photos I had from my visit to Harry Potter Studio Tour with James early last year.

(Apologies for the photos, taken with my iPhone and uploaded in the evening.)

When I decided to use this large floral paper, I couldn't see how it worked, but I'm happy with it.

This one is a 12x12 with an additional divided page protector holding more photos.

I'm really enjoying this workshop and its has made me sit down and do some layouts that I've been planning to do for a while.  I've followed the format for these as instructed but I know that when I have more time I will be able to adapt some of the designs for other layouts.  I glad that I will have at least 6 layouts to add to our Harry Potter Album.

Another Layout

Yes, I'm back again with a layout, I'm in the process of de-stashing - not sure whether this is correct word - lol - but you get what I'm doing and have split most of my papers down into colour ways instead of leaving them as a collection.

I had this photo of James on my desk for another layout I was planning to do before Christmas, and decided to stop what I was doing - because sorting my room is going to be an on going project, and put this layout together.

I must admit I found getting the papers together a lot easier than I would have thought, I know all these colours are brown / boy tones but it made putting it together quicker.  I'm hoping has the weeks go by and I get more of my room sorted I will be able to do more layouts.

Old Little Word - Focus Layout

I managed to do this layout the other day, I wanted to do a layout that had my 'one little word' (olw) as the subject.  So this is it.

The camera stencil is by Prima

and this one is a Tim Holtz stencil, which is called - 'Eye Chart' which is all about staying focus.

One Little Word - Focus

Like many others I've decided join in with Ali Edwards example of choosing a word to use throughout the year,  I have chosen my word for 2014

Focus

Well this year, I'm going to try and bring some more control and focus to me, my family and my life.

So here are a few of my initial points that I will try over the year to keep to the front of my mind ...

Focus - on what is best for me.

Focus - on my family life.

Focus - on my health.

Focus - on what I want to do and not what others want me to do.

Focus - on being a good friend and person / but not a push over.

Focus - on being happy.

Focus - on just being me.

Yes, I need to bring more focus to my life, I need to be more 'selfish' in what I want from my life and stop worrying about how others are feeling or what they want.  They are doing just fine and I'm the one left worrying about silly things and changing my plans to make them happy.

So I hoping that having a word will keep me on track and will let me bring more focus to my life.

Project Life - September 2013

Happy New year to you all, all my big plans of blogging more regularly has gone out of the window for now, but I have been crafting and getting my Project Life 2013 Albums finished, I so determined to get it all finished by the end of January, so for now blogging has to take a back seat.

So here are my September pages

I wanted to give James a day out before he went back to school, and has the Sea Life Centre was on our Summer list, we headed in to Birmingham for the day, we also visited the new Birmingham Library; and went to lunch

James returns back to school, and before you know it, he's got loads of homework / revision;  whilst we did some major cutting down in our garden.

Love this days of the week stencil that a misted with Mr Huey's.

We visited my cousins, and had a family and friends day.

lunch with the Solihull girls; out with my college friends; helping design some cupcake toppers for my neighbours birthday party.

Jon & James going on the Skyride around Birmingham; James yearly MRI scan; Dentist visit for me.

I was so excited to go back to Bristol to see all of the Gromits in one place.  I drove down with Sheena to Becki's and we had arranged to meet a few IG friends, but the day didn't turn out as expected, the queues where over 6 hours long, so we decided to just spend the day in Bristol instead, and we had so much fun - its always good to meet people you know online and something I hope to do again this year.

James being a 'Poster Boy' for the School; picking and freezing our last blackcurrents of the season; detailing the cancelled retreat; visiting Belbroughton Scarecrow festival.

Out for a meal with my friend Claire to a lovely restaurant in the City; James floating at his swimming lesson;

So that was our September, I have one or two inserts to fill on this back pages but I'm saying its done, has I'm just planning to add patterned papers or filler cards.
