SJ Papercraft Blog Challenge - May/June 2012

Withe one thing another I've been unable to join in with these challenges over the past few months, but now things are settling down, I decided to give it a go, and hope that I can continue to take part.

So over on SJ Papercraft Blog, here , this month challenge is up and this is my take. The challenge is to produce a layout about a boy. So off I went and produced this,

Totally Cool- using Simple Stories - Awesome Collection

then I realised that there was an added challenge to incorporate something old,

So after some throught I came up with the idea to add some stamp details over the page, I've had these stamps for ages, at least 2 years so they more than qualify. I've used a mixture of inks on the images to tone with my page.

then added some Maya Road chipboard stars, which I misted. Again somethings I've had in my stash for ages.

and the final close up of the banner details.

Now for Something Completely Different ...

I frequently read the threads on UK Scrappers but I've set up my account to go to my most regular pages, so I hadn't seen this challenge started at the beginning of the year by Shimelle and only came across it because she had put it on her blog. So last night James swimming lesson was cancelled 'due to the 48 hour rule not being adhered to by a school child' - enough said, so I had a few hours free and I escape to my craft room.

You can find the information here

This is the collection I got together, following Shimelles instructions.

Papers - MME Fine & Dandy, American Craft (AC) Peachy Keen, Crate Paper - Farmhouse, Echo Par - A Walk in the Park (stripes);
Alphas - AC Thickers, My Little Shoebox mini alpha stickers.
Mist - Mr Huey- Piglet
Bakers Twine, Brads, Dollie - stash

and here is my finished layout. I recently had these photos printed on a 6x4 and wanted to use them as is, but then decided to cut them apart and make into a photostrip (as per the instructions) decided it wouldn't work, so re-mounted them back onto white cardstock.

Also I was going to use the stripe paper, but decided that the B side of the paper (which is under the Dollie) worked better with the colours in my photo.

12 hr crop

now you would think that being a a 12 hour crop would help you produce loads and loads of layouts !!!! well not me. But, I did spend a lovely day in Shropshire with Skrapz who had organised a 12 hour crop which was mainly 12 layouts in 12 hours, I hadn't booked on the workshop but went to crop with some friends who I'm planning to go away with in November. Thanks Sam, Kathy, Zahra and Nicky for a great day.

Ann & Caroline (Skrapz) had produced some great layouts and a great format to get them all completed in the time, which made the all day very relaxing for the people taking part.

The none workshop were seated at the back of the room, and we had a great time catching up and putting the world to right - as you do.

I have decided that my Document Life pages needed a covering page, and following some sort of format, I decided that each covering page will be on Kraft Cardstock.

So these are my pages, this is a scraplift from here by Silje - just love how she has used the stamp.

The next two are basic. These where just papers that I'd cut up for my Document Life page protectors and just layered them on the page.

And my final one is using the Crate Paper - StoryTeller Tag sheets, again another scraplift from here by JC Chris. I used the title 'only me' because it what I say when I phone my friends. Even though it's a scraplift I have stamped and misted the cardstock to make it slightly different to the orginial one and omitted the bottom border strip.

Thanks for stopping by.

My mojo has come back ...

I recently went to my crop and did the sum total of one layout (which I still haven't finished), which is so not like me, maybe it was all the catching up I was doing, especially with Sheena who had joined us for the day - which was a pleasant distraction. When I came home I really couldn't be bother and basically for a few days after I just set in my room trying to think of what to do, so I was pleased that this week I've been able to get my head around a few things and try and sort some of my albums out, thanks to Shimelle's new class.

Following Shimelle's prompts have got me thinking about my albums and how to organise them, so over the coming weeks, I will be updating regularly on my progress to make my albums more readable, so watch this space.

In one of the prompts this week she talked about scrapping a photo and then having several from that event still to work with, so with that in mind I decided to do this. A double pager - hoot ! hoot!

Products used: Studio Calico - March 2012 kit

It started with this side first, and I found a sketch on Pinterest (love that place )you can find the sketch here. I turned the sketch round to suit my photos, anyway, has I was putting it together I decided to make it into a double pager.

I'm trying to use my older stamps more and came across these, a set of arrows from Blond Moments.

I also found a set from PaperArtsy.

Love the wood veneer people from Studio Calico.

Then I did these using the Studio Calico Sketchbook No. 10. Again using my Studio Calico March kit

Studio Calico Sketchbook No. 11
